The variance in P3 vykas is different
We've were told about this idea during in the first week of our investigation. We have a different team that claimed that after someone disconnected, and reconnect to their account suddenly the boss mechanics were more in the fight.
The first and second weeks were able to see the "Friendly" Vykas pattern. Week 3 was the "Angry" Vykas patterns they were discussing.
"Friendly" patterns - Moving into the first "Swamp" Phase Vykas typically uses several attacks. The whip that leaves red lines that alternate and the counter with double dashes or her counter in a different way. The first night of trying, Vykas did not use her medusa prior to her tentacle phase, which was much later in the battle. Vykas never used blood drops, and we didn't even see this mechanic in the main raid until week 3. In general, she'd follow some basic patterns up to the point of swamp and after that we'd do DPS until pink puddles, and avoid a basic pattern, or two prior to going into statues, etc.
"Angry" Patterns"Angry" Patterns Medusa Jr. On pull (1 stage instead of two-phase medusa post tendies) the 2nd or 1st attack patterns in about 25% of our pulls in week 3. The mechanic was not observed prior to tentacles appearing in weeks 1 and 2. However, we did hear stories of other players experiencing difficulties to deal with this in their programs. It was usually followed with a more difficult or moderate mechanic (so instead of a dodge or counter pattern, it would have blood drops, or other fairly powerful damaging/meter increase in capability).
I can go into a lot of detail or record one of our clears to show the issue - but the TLDR is Friendly Vykas uses counterable abilities more often, and spaces her basic/moderate/challenging mechanics in a fairly predictable manor allowing easy control of the meter and encounter overall. Anger Vykas is, on the contrary however, is much more unpredictable and uses the entire range of her toolbox, including raid wipes as well as high meter mechanics from back.
The 3rd week was more difficult to complete than week 1, despite having the same mechanics because the frequency and intensity of her set of moves was completely different. Vykas seems to have an "Normal" mode, and an "Mythic" mode, where you won't notice the mythic aspects in normal, even though it's similar in difficulty.
The variance in P3 Vykas differs from any other encounters in the same raid or the prior Valtan raid. Valtan would give two or three surprises each draw, however Vykas seemed like a completely different adventure in week 3.
