The much-anticipated update to Madden 22 Scouting has been delayed

A much-anticipated update to Madden 22's approach to Scouting has been delayed until mid-October, after it was originally scheduled to be released in September.

EA has shared details about the upcoming Scouting update as part of a detailed analysis on the Madden website, stating that it needs more time to make sure the feature is fully ready for fans.

"It is important to our team that we deliver what you expect with quality," says EA. "We are taking the time to make sure Scouting is fine-tuned with additional testing and that Scouting will be available to all players with the title update coming in mid-October."

This could be a blow to fans who've been waiting for the feature since the game's launch in August. Unlike many updates that integrate seamlessly, EA's scout feature requires fans to start the franchise from scratch after applying the update. Without this restart, the new Scouting features will not be available. Fans who are currently playing Madden 22 can still start the new series with the old scouting feature currently enabled in the game.

Upon release, the new scout model will meet a number of community requests. Scouting begins in the first week where players learn about the current draft class and can begin planning their approach to Scouting for the season.

During Scouting, players control their Scouting department and can hire, fire and reassign Scouts to get the most out of their squad. Scouts can then be directed to different regions of the Scout Map in the game, allowing fans to get the most out of their Scouting Experience. EA provides an example of what this might look like in-game to show how players can best use their scouts to their advantage.

"For example, if the turns are one of the strengths of the Southeast region, make sure you appoint a scout who has experience with corner recognition to get the most out of it," explains EA. "You are responsible for optimizing your five explorers to help you find these design gems."

The publisher also admitted in the post that micromanaging a scouting team does not necessarily suit everyone's tastes. For those not of equal interest in Scouting, players can choose the "set it and forget" option which allows players to continue their franchise without penalties if they choose not to interact with the Scouting feature.

In addition to giving fans control over the entire Scouting department, the new update will also include detailed scouting reports, news that will impact players' positions on the in-game multimedia dashboard, and simulated concepts that will provide a snapshot of who makes up the teams they are interested in throughout the season. By focusing on players during the Scouting window, fans can unlock more information about their profile and provide a further indication of whether the player is worth signing up for.
