NBA 2K21 Tips: 6 Tips to Help You Master the Game

It won't be easy to get to the high level you've enjoyed in previous NBA 2K games this year. In addition to some pretty big changes to the way it shoots, the developers in 2K have also loaded the game with other minor tweaks and changes that significantly change the experience from what you're used to.

Learning to return to a decent level of play takes time and patience. And since the game can be a little confusing at times when it comes to how it approaches learning new tricks, we've decided to cover it all here. Here's what you need to know if you want to become a better NBA 2K21 player.

1. Know how to shoot

In this year's version of the game, the developers really let you work for your buckets. Instead of the green indicator that existed in previous titles, you now have to time your strokes and release the Pro Stick button or the shot button at different times depending on where you are on the field. Learn to play the course, learn what it's like to shoot from different places in the arena and remember never to take the same shot twice.

2. Turn off shot meter

If you're looking for an experience that's more in line with the game's approach over the years, you can turn off the shot meter in the settings to regain some control. If you do that, focus more on the player - not the distracting interface - then you'll need to release the fire button or Pro Stick at jump height for the best bucket attempt in the queue.

3. Learn Hot Zones

To balance the focus on the more squeaky and harder shot meter, the makers of 2K decided to pretty much amp up the Hot Zones. What does this mean for you? Well, with Hot Zones your player will get a better boost. Practice with your favorite players and find out where their hot zones need to make their strokes a little more consistent. You can also learn them in practice mode.

4. Badges are life

Knowing and learning about a player's badge is essential to success on the field. Understanding what each badge is, how it relates to their play style, and then choosing the right badges when your MyPlayer levels up is essential to make them stand out. By playing MyCareer and The Neighborhood consistently, you start to earn Nba 2k21 Mt from shooting and gameplay (and these can make a difference in the long run!)

5. Shoot clean

In NBA 2K21, you see more possession and intercepted shots than any other NBA title as you try to score while being heavily protected. Sniff up the open space and do what you can to get away from the defenders and your shots will be more effective. Press L1 / LB for friendly players to give you a screen that allows you to position yourself better.

6. Defend with courage

Just take the clue we gave you above and turn it around: If you know your opponent has a very good attacking athlete in their possession, do what you can to hold him and deny him the space he needs to shoot. Hold O/B to stand your ground and make it more difficult for enemy players to get the layup or dunk off you.
